One thing that has always stood out in my memories is visiting the library. We couldn't afford to buy lots of books, so we spent time at the library. I remember the joy it brought when my dad would let me loose in the children's section and I could pick anything I wanted. There was never any restrictions on what I was aloud to read. To this day that is how I have raised my own kids. Read what interests you. If you want to sit and read an encyclopedia then more power to you. And as someone over the age of 30, I admit to still loving to read a good children's book with beautiful illustrations.
